Little Guy Update
We got home and he was in a really bad mood. Very defiant. Moody. Aggressive. Angry. Swearing. It was awful. We cut our weekend at the cottage short because it was so bad. I know he is probably recovering from his 2 weeks away but wow! I'm drained already!
Talked to his psych doctor this morning and we are raising his lithium yet again. He is still at a very low level in his labs and not in the "therapeutic range" yet.
Another visit to the vampire lab in a week. Fun.
An interesting and concerning thing came up. The last two times he had his labs done, his blood sugar was quite low. 45 and 54. Neither was fasting. He had ate breakfast and we left to the lab. It was probably 45 minutes from the time he ate to when the blood was drawn. I need to do some Dr. g00gle research and see if there are any cases of hypoglycemia due to lithium and I need to contact his pediatrician in the morning to see what he wants to do about it.
I need a break. I need the lithium to help. It seems his "highs" are happening much less lately. While the highs are exhausting - think happy, hyper mode- they are at least pleasant. Compared to his aggressive, defiant mode.
Maybe it's the lithium starting to level things out a bit, but I wish it would level out the bad side more than the good.
We'll keep pressing on.
Adventures in Florida
i found this cute fire hydrant while we were driving around in Key West. If I were a dog, I'd wanna pee on it!
This is the B&B we stayed at - Beautiful. The backyard was full of palms, trees, bushes. I loved just sitting and taking it all in. There were these little tiny lizards that were running all around the deck by the pool. Sitting at breakfast the first morning, one ran up to my foot and scared the crap outta me.

sweating and exploring
Cheers!!
It's hot and Sweaty here, but really neat to see.
We did some walking in town, along the water, a little bit of shopping. Found a Chinese place. We had to try it of course. Just to see if Chinese food here is better or worse than it is on Cape Cod, So far, it's worse.
Tonight, we'll see how the seafood compares.
I'm about as far south as you can get.
Do you know where I am?
More later....

It's Monday
Day three of no kids and i am still dealing with kids - kind of.
I had to sort, count, cut and label all of Little guy's meds for camp. Wrote out the directions on a paper (we were told to write instructions) and all for the camp nurse. One of the meds had the wrong dose on the label. It was an old prescription that I hadn't had updated. Just a simple thing that he was getting half a pill instead of a whole one so I never thought of it.
Worry mom me, (thank goodness I do worry) calls camp Saturday afternoon to check with the nurse and make sure she is all set with his meds and does she have any questions. Why yes she does. She gave him the dose that it said on the bottle not the dose I wrote in my note. She said she had to go by what the bottle says. I freak. Not her fault but I know that little guy was probably exhausted and miserable. The dose she gave him is what he gets at night and it puts him to sleep so I knew she was tired and cranky. Poor little guy. I tell her NOOOO don't do that, I'll get it straightened out Monday blah blah, DO NOT give him that dose. I'm having anxiety attacks all freaking weekend worrying about this.Got it straightened out this morning with the Doctors office and a new prescription called in. Just to ease my own mind, I am getting the new bottle and bringing it to camp so there are NO questions. I don't want my little guy's meds getting messed up.
My fault for not paying attention to the bottle but damn. Kids. Always causing trouble.
I love cooking. I love hunting for new recipes. Found one in a new magazine for Vietnamese summer rolls. Looked really good. A healthier version of egg rolls which I love to make at home.while that link isn't the same recipe I used, it's similar.I had to find some rice papers to make them. I knew Stop & Shop didn't have them so I went to the Asian grocery store in the next town over. This little store is great! It's small but has a huge variety of different sauces, noodles, treats and more. The girl there is super nice and kept telling me about different recipes and ways she uses ingredients. I got my rice papers and rice noodles. At the counter I saw a little tin of Hello Kitty candy that I had to buy. Not for the candy, I'll throw it out and keep the tin. Alan asked what I'm going to put in it. I told him I'll use it for toenail clippings. HA!
Last night we made pork fried rice and tried to make the rolls. I could not get the rice papers to work. I dipped them in and out of the water quick like the girl said but they folded up on itself and was too sticky to work with. And just made a huge mess. I think I made 6 and got pissed off at them so I threw the rest of the shrimp and veggies in my fried rice. The ones that did come out OK were good. If I can figure out how to work the rice paper without having problems, I'll try it again. Guess I'll need to stop back by the store and ask what I did wrong.Another recipe I found looked really good is for sweet potato hummus. I'm going to make it tomorrow. Can't wait to try it out.
crazy questions

My husband. He helps me come through things that I never thought I could. He stands by me in my darkest times and in my brightest. He truly is amazing.
2. do you shop on line...Home goods or personal items? Can you tell us what personal items you look for??
I don't shop online much. Only if I find out about a really good deal that's too good to pass up. Like the pyrex baking dishes I got for $1.99 each a few months back. AND they were purple!
3. Name a song from your past that you have always loved. what year was it recorded?
Wow, there are tons of songs I love. I'll have to go with This oneIt was released 25 July 1980
4. If you found out there was a pedophile living in your neighborhood, would you take any action or ignore the fact??
5. If you could live in any city In the USA...what would it be.
I really like it here. A lot. The only thing I'd want to change about where I do live, is I'd like to live on the water instead of a mile from the water.
6. what is the one city you wouldn't live in even if you were paid to!?
I wouldn't want to live in any city. I like less traffic, less crowding.
7. If you were strapped for cash would you ask a parent or sibling for money?
If it was a matter of putting food in my kids mouths, clothes on their back, or a roof over their head, YES
8. what is your most favorite thing to do to relax when you are not working?
considering I work 24/7, (yes I am even doing kid crap while they are away) I never relax. But - I do like to get on my computer and chat with my bloggy friends and far away family. I like to sit down and write letters to my pen pals, sit by the fire in the backyard with the one I love.

Thriller
1. Where were you when you heard that Michael Jackson died?
I was sitting at my computer and read a post someone made on facebook.
2. How do you think that he will be remembered?
It all depends on who you ask. Many will remember him for being a very talented artist. That's how I will remember him. But some fucktards will remember him for being a pedophile or a pervert.
3. What was your favorite Jackson tune?
I was a huge fan of the whole Thriller album. I like everything on it.
4. Did you watch the original Charlie’s Angels?
I never did.
5. Did someone you know have that poster of Farrah?
Nobody
6. Did you consider her battle with cancer heroic?
I don't consider a battle with cancer as heroic. I think of it more as a fight. I watched my sister die of cancer and it sucks. It's just one of those crappy things in life that some people have to endure. Some survive, some don't. Either way it sucks.
7. Were you a fan of The Tonight Show Starring Johnnie Carson?
I liked Johnny and miss him.
8. Did you like Ed McMahon on the show?
Ed was the sidekick, he helped make Johnny who he was.
9. What else will you remember McMahon for?
Publishers clearinghouse. Why the hell did he have to die before I got my check?

I hope you all are having a great Saturday.
I have no children for 2 whole weeks. Holy crap!

friday stuff
Our vacation plans are made and set. (woot!)
The boys head to camp in the morning. (double woot!!)
They had a friend sleep over last night. It went pretty well except for the part when the cops showed up.
ugh.
My little guy has issues with some young relatives of a neighbor. A & J. The 2 boys are pretty wild. they act up and provoke little guy. Throwing things at him, swearing at him, running into his bike with their own so little guy gives it right back at them, usually verbally.
The neighbor, lets call her lunatic, yells at little guy. Swears at him. Calls him names. She called him a freaking retard. a fucking baby. She told him to go home and cry to his crackhead mother.
Later I find out she also grabbed little guy by the shirt twice.
Whatthefuck is a 50-something year old woman doing talking like this to a 9 year old.
My little guy typically doesn't start trouble unless he is provoked. He wants to play with anyone and everyone but if someone pisses him off, watch out.
So after a few hours of yelling and fighting, the police come. Tell little guy he can't go in her yard anymore. Whatever.
Did he have anything to say or do about lunatic swearing at my kid or about her TOUCHING my kid?
no.
His only concern is my kid is swearing at her and she doesn't like it.
I swear, that if I saw her touch my kid, I would have ran after her with a baseball bat.
So now, I'm pissed. I want revenge. If this lunatic even looks at me, I'll call the police for harassment. I can play this game too.
I'm a real easy going person. Easy to get along with, calm and very low-keyed. But, don't fuck with me or my kid.
Payback is a bitch.
On a side note, we actually had some sun yesterday and this morning. I took all the boys to the beach last night. It was so nice, except for all the little bugs. Even with bug spray they were all over me. This morning I took them to the pond and they swam for an hour. Very relaxing to sit there in the sun.
Damn, now I really can't wait for vacation.

All night on the beach til the break of dawn
So, it's the last day of school. A half day. My boys will be home in an hour.
Three days of keeping them entertained and then they are g-o-n-e for 2 weeks.
(South beach bringin the heat )
My hunny and I are going to spend a few days around the 4th at our cottage.
Nice. Beach. Peace & quiet. Smirnoff and cookouts.
Who wants to come party? Seriously? July 4th, come on and visit.
Then, we are going away
(uh Haha can yall feel that Can yall feel that Jig it out uh)
Tonight we are attending our first support group for parents of bipolar children. Anxious abut meeting new people but looking forward to meeting others who "get it".
All one of us needs to do is say a simple phrase and everyone gets it. No explanation necessary. We understand each other. Sympathize about what each other is having to deal with. We've all been there at some point or another.
My little guy has been doing pretty well the past 2 days. Is it his meds? I dunno. I don't care - ha- all that matters is that he is doing well. He's been very active. Not so much hyper but on the go. Bouncing from activity to activity. Keeping busy. Thank god for that because the weather is so crappy, he really can't play outside.
The rest of my week will be full of packing. I need to pack 2 boys for 2 weeks of camp. Clothes. Books. Toys. Personal items. Sleeping bags. You name it. I'll be singing a song while I pack too.
Maybe this one....
anytime - TMI Tuesday
